After being cooped up for so long, I just feel this is so fitting. I think many of us are ready to open our doors again. Ready to let loved ones back into our lives. That is why I chose this book for my June Bible Study.

Just Open the Door...that title sounded just so inviting to me. The idea of letting loved ones over, the idea of making new friends and inviting them into my life. Yearning for the company of others after such a long period of isolation.

Now I know a lot of folks, and you may be one of them, who really enjoyed this time of isolation and quiet. And I must admit I enjoyed it to a point. I enjoyed not spending the majority of my work running my kids from this class to that practice and back. But I greatly missed the company of others. I miss being in the presence of other sweet sisters at bible study, I miss being around other people. Bible Study classes at church are still closed until the Fall so I felt it was time to start opening my own door to those around me.

About the Author

Jen Schmidt is the Author of Just Open the Door. She is from the inCourage Community from DaySpring. I have loved every inCourage book that I've read thus far. The honesty and realness of the women just syncs so well with me. I don't feel I'm being talked down to, or written from a higher then thou perspective. Instead they write exactly at my level, they relate to the struggles I'm experiencing now.

Impact of the Book

Jen's main punchline for this book is "One invitation can change a generation". That really hit home with me. I'm always thinking about my future generation. By that I mean my kid's kids, their kids and so forth. I think about wanting to ensure my grandkids (though they are probably 20 years away from happening!) have all the things I couldn't give my kids, things out of my control such as having grandparents present in their lives, having cousins, I want them to have the family aspect that I simply couldn't provide. So future generations being impacted by one action speaks to my heart. And it is true, one act can change future generations. I think of being shown kindness by one person, or a favorite meal or memory I experienced at someone's home that I repeat with my kids now and they might share the tradition with their kids.

How the Bible Study Works

To get the full impact of the study, there are 3 components:

  1. Just Open the Door Book

  2. Just Open the Door Bible Study

  3. Just Open the Door Video Series

• The Book dives into greater details and gives more stories making for an entertaining yet inspirational read.

• The Bible study includes some stories from the book but includes several scripture references and exercises to encourage you in your journey to share hospitality.

• The Video Series works in tandem with the Bible Study. There are a few options. You can Rent or Buy videos for personal study. You can also do the Leader Option so you can share videos with future classes.

-Renting the videos as a bundle are $23.99 or you can rent individual videos starting at $2.99.

-To buy the video bundle is $35.99 or you can purchase individual lesson videos. If I was doing this with a friend or small group I would probably buy the bundle so we can enjoy them together and rewatch as needed.

-There are 7 videos in the series and each are roughly 20-25 minutes long.

Personally I love videos in a bible study. The combination of hearing personal experiences, reading stories and studying scripture really penetrates my soul.

I hope that you really enjoy this Bible Study! I plan on doing a bundle giveaway in the near future so keep an eye out to enter!

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime if you want to join me in discussing this Bible Study and learning and growing together.
