I had an inspiring experience yesterday.

I was at the playground with my daughters, this was after spending 2 hours running around the park with them, and needless to say I was hot, sweaty and exhausted at this point.

There was another mom on the next bench who had 3 kids of her own playing. She only spoke Spanish and I could vaguely understand the commands to her children explaining to them to be careful around the little girls.

But then she did something that really took me by surprise. Every time my youngest, who is just under 3, went down the slide she would clap and cheer her on.

At first I thought she must be cheering on her children, I mean why would a complete stranger cheer my child on?

She did nothing extraordinary, she just went down the slide. But each time she went down, there she was, cheering her.

Then it dawned on me she was celebrating my child! I'm sitting here exhausted and she had the kind spirit to encourage my children, energy that I lacked at that moment, to provide encouragement they needed.

Then I realized how funny it is the world we live in. How it seems strange to us that someone else would celebrate a stanger's success.

We live in a world where everyone is divided and spewing venom at each other every moment they get. Kind words seem to be rarely spoken lately.

But here was a sweet mom providing light to my day. We didn't even speak the same language, but we were able to bridge that gap with the love of the little ones. How amazing and beautiful, it really touched me.

As we left, she smiled big and waved good bye to my daughter, and it made me realize we really need to cheer each other on more.
