Freebie: Recipe Card

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love to cook! All of my recipes are handwritten onto cards that I keep in a binder. I always imagine my children and grandchildren one day reading over my handwritten recipes, admiring in their old glory.

I wanted to share this Recipe Card Template with you to help you keep your recipes organized. You can take a 3 ring hole punch like I did and keep these in a cute binder.

For most of my recipes that I find online or in magazines, I take the recipe as a source of inspiration and then I tweak to my liking.

For example, Fettucine Alfredo, I prefer a thinner sauce and I prefer broccoli and mushrooms in mine with some tomatoes on top. So I'll modify the recipe to add more milk to thin the sauce and I'll add the veggies. The recipe I found was just to get me started but then I'll make it my own.

Make Recipes Your Own

I invite you to add your own creative twists or modifications to recipes. Then on the Recipe card you can jot down the final product. Note any special tips that helped make the dish a success, for example did you cook in a cast iron pan to get that chicken golden brown? Did you learn not to overstir and make everything mushy?

I like to write recipes with the mindset that I'm writing them for my future generations. That my kids will read these recipes, learn from my mistakes and hopefully make a fabulous dish they will serve to their children in memory of Grandma. Yes I know I think too far ahead but it's that sort of dreaming that makes life whimsical and full of joy.
